When visitors finish grilling they are obliged to tidy up after themselves and clean the grill plates. There are several ways to clean the grill plates effectively or use them without having to do much cleaning at all.
Use aluminum foil, PTFE foil, or baking sheets to avoid spending a lot of time on cleaning. Always make a hole in the middle so the excess grease could drain away through the middle hole in the grill plate. Make sure you create higher edges so that grease cannot leak under the baking sheets and burn.
- Use appropriate foil as the grill plates can reach the temperature of 400 °C (750 ˚F).
- If the grease gets in between the foil and the grill plate it will burn excessively and then becomes much more difficult to clean. Therefore, don't forget to make a hole in the middle of the foil.
- Aluminum foil cups are inappropriate as their shape doesn't permit direct contact with the grill plate and consequently, the optimal temperature for grilling is not reached.
No vigorous cleaning awaits you even if you grill without the foils. Just remember:
- If you grill meat, it will always stick to the grill plate at first. Do not panic! You do not have to worry about the meat being burnt. When the meat is just right it will no longer be stuck to the grill plate. If you take it off too early it will lose all the sauce and there will be bits of meat stuck on the grill plate, that burn excessively during grilling and afterwards, they will be hard to clean.
- When grilling vegetables, don't forget to mix them regularly.
- When grilling cheese or fish, it's better to use aluminum foil. Otherwise, you have to spend a lot of time watching over it.
Remember, the better you grill the easier it is to clean the grill plate.
For cleaning the grill plate use:
- For dirt: Use a scraper with rounded corners
- For impurities: Use a kitchen sponge, cloth, or preferably the cleaning pad.
Use conventional BBQ cleaning products, washing-up liquid, or a special ecological product ParkBBQ Clean with EcoLabel certification, which is significantly stronger than conventional cleaning products and yet environmentally friendly.
- After you have finished grilling, pour clean water over the hot grill plate. By doing this, you remove the burned bits, therefore cleaning will be easier.
- The Park BBQ cleaning product works best on surfaces with a temperature of approx. 40 °C - 50 °C (105 °F - 120 °F) so make sure to apply the product approximately 10 minutes after you finish grilling as the grill plate reaches the correct temperature around this time. If the product evaporates immediately, the grill plate is too hot. Leave the product on for approximately 5 minutes, then wipe the grill plate with a cloth and rinse with water.
- Enjoy grilling your meal! Let the vegetables dance and the meat get a tan.
Be considerate to others and clean after yourself! In the event of a breach of this basic rule, no further Grillpoints reservations will be permitted.
